I’ll never forget the time I almost blew a new prospect meeting because I didn’t manage the details. I was so embarrassed.
A prospective client was referred my way by a colleague and we talked for a bit over the phone and set up a meeting. We had to juggle a little because her schedule was busy and so was mine. We finally found a mutually agreeable day and time and planned to meet.
Sounds great, huh? Not.
She called me the following Wednesday and wondered where I was. Oops. Not a great way to make a good first impression.
She had written the date on her calendar as April 27 and I wrote it on May 4. We agreed to the day (Wednesday) and the time (9am), but failed to clarify the date. Fortunately we were able to set up a new date.
Whew! Don’t let this happen to you. Make sure you confirm, the day, time and date when you are setting up a meeting. Yes, sometimes the small details do count.
